Cate and Aliki met by chance in March 2019 in Newark library. They were both mums to toddlers with newborns in tow, and had an instant affinity. Shortly after they discovered they both had the same dream, based on personal experience, of opening a play cafe in Newark. Less than 2 months later BeanBlock C.I.C was registered, and plans were well underway to open Newark's first family friendly cafe.

As parents themselves Cate and Aliki truly understand the anxiety that accompanies eating out with young children...Will my pushchair fit? What if my toddler has a meltdown? Practical solutions for parents are integral to its design and imaginative play opportunities sit within a stylish eatery, serving fresh and healthy food for the whole family. 

 

A full programme of community activities gives parents opportunities to make connections. BeanBlock stands out from the ever-growing crowd through its dedication to the mental health and resilience of local families.

 

BeanBlock is a community interest company, this means that profits from BeanBlock cafe will be distributed to extend community provision for families in Newark as well as supporting local family support charities and initiatives. 

 

None of what you see at BeanBlock would be possible without its fantastic supporters and sponsors. The encouragement and support from the local community for this exciting venue has been overwhelming.
